Energy can move through some types of matter, but not others. Think about moving furniture into your house. Some pieces of furniture can fit without a problem, and then there are other pieces of furniture that will not fit through your doorway. This is the same thing that happens at the molecular level. Light can move through a window, but not a person. Electricity moves through copper wire but not rubber tires. The size and shape (which we refer to as the particle’s state) explains why some objects are affected and others are not. Matter has holes and openings which particles can fit through. Gravity affects everything. Watch the videos below to learn more about our theory and this introductory law!
